If your shower has a handheld hose with a standard 1/2" connection — the most common setup in the US — yes. Just unscrew the old head and screw this one on. It isn't designed for fixed ceiling rain heads without a hose.

To be clear: the filter traps particles, sand and rust, but it is not a water softener and doesn't change water hardness. What you will notice is a brand-new head with no clogged nozzles and a fine, powerful spray.
